Because we all need a little more happiness in our lives!
Don’t rush your morning.
Don’t do it! Don’t roll out of bed at the last minute! Don’t wolf down coffee and/or breakfast! Don’t throw on the first thing you see! Take time to get dressed, to sip coffee, to eat breakfast. It will make you feel so much calmer, and way more ready to attack all the things you need to do during the day.
Go to bed earlier.
This ties into the last one… If you find yourself struggling to get out of bed in the morning, try going to bed earlier and giving yourself enough time to have a proper nights sleep! Sleep is so important.
Don’t wake up to an alarm.
I don’t know about you, but waking up to an alarm makes me instantly angry. Waking up naturally makes it so much easier to get out of bed.
Sleep with the curtains open. Got to bed earlier. Go to bed and wake up at the same time every day so that your body gets on a schedule. Set and “emergency” alarm that will go off a little later that you want, so that it gives you the chance you wake up naturally. For those of you that aren’t morning people… it may take a bit of training!
Set some easy goals.
Being able to clearly see what you accomplished during your day is so rewarding. Setting some easy goals is like stacking your deck. You’ll always win!
Figure out a routine.
Even if it’s just a routine for bedtime, or a routine for mornings. Having that small bit of similarity every day will make your day, or night, feel so much more relaxed and in control.
Soak up the sun, and breathe in the beautifully fresh air. It’s so good for your body and mind.
Go for a walk.
Walking, especially outside, makes your brain go, “I HAVE ALL OF THE IDEAS!” Getting some exercise, even if it’s light exercise, makes you so much happier. There are some brain chemicals that do things, but I’m no scientist, so I won’t try to be.
Set aside some relax time.
Unwind. Recharge. If you just keep going going going, you’re going to run out of steam. Your brain and body need time to unbutton their pants and let it all hang out.
I have a tenancy to skip meals occasionally. And when I do, I get moody, get headaches, and am just generally tired. Treat yourself well! Make sure you charge up you body for the day by eating! Then you won’t have the distractions of a headache, sleepiness, or the dreadful hangry monster. You’ll be happier, and ready to face the obstacles of the day. And don’t forget to eat healthy.
ALSO make sure to drink water! But that fits into eating well!
Pet an animal.
Petting an animal reduces anxiety and stress, says science. It also makes the lil animal happier and reduces their anxiety and stress! It’s an all around win! If you don’t have a pet, visit a local animal shelter, drop by a pet owning friend’s house, or invest in a stuffed animal. Or just get a pet! Save a little buddy! WOOOOOOOOOO!
Well, there’s that. Be happy!
